As part of the Days of Russian Science, on February 3, 2026, a seminar was held in the meeting room of the Institute‘s Academic Council on the launch of the first Yakut satellite Cholbon, a small spacecraft developed and created as part of a joint project with the Small Academy of Sciences of the RS (Ya) to launch the first Yakut spacecraft

The report on the first small spacecraft MAN RS(Ya) Cholbon was presented by Andrei Nikolaevich Petrov, Chief Designer of the satellite, Senior engineer at YAKS LLC, and a 4th-year student at the National Taiwan University.

Andrey Nikolaevich spoke about the satellite‘s configuration, preliminary test results, plans for 2026, and shared the project‘s mission.:

– Preparation of the ground-based space infrastructure for the future ICA of the Republic

– Deployment of an aerospace classroom network

– Training of specialist operators

– Training of engineering personnel

– Popularization of astronautics and amateur radio
