Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11:00 in the Hall of the Academic Council of SHICRA SB RAS will host an all-institute seminar “Research into the Arctic climate: progress, change of concepts, urgent tasks”
Speaker: Vladimir Anatolyevich Semenov, Correspondent Member, RAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, climatologist, specialist in the field of diagnostics and modeling of climate change, Deputy Director for science, Institute of Atmospheric Physics named after V.I. A. M. Obukhov, RAS, Head of the Laboratory of Climatology, Institute of Geography, RAS.
An overview of some of the significant advances in climate change research in the Arctic over the past decade has been presented. The mechanisms of positive feedbacks that enhance climate change at high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere have been considered. Examples are given of concepts that were popular until recently, explaining climate change in the Arctic and turned out to be untenable in the light of modern climate dynamics. Important topical problems that need to be solved are formulated
